After I did research about the Me Generation of China and also other countries, what I represent in my art works is the characteristics of the self-concerned, living in a fashionable life with a lonely inner world, being unconcerned about politics and being unrealistic. As one of this generation, I have been in the most significant change in the nearly 20 years in China. The fast development leads to anti-traditional culture, which is peacockery and vanity. In this period, mass-election, the false voting, fake politics, the digital economy, the beauty effect, nice advertisement may cause people to forget dangers and pains. It is common to judge others by their outside. Young females wish to trade jewelry for love. One side of the newspapers is about house market and money, while the other side is cosmetic surgery and ”boob jobs“. The uncoordinated objects, which are frothy, seem to be colourful and beautiful outside, when they are broken the true truth will be exposed after all. As other Me Generations, I did this research and my project is to escape the reality of vanity in certain social backgrounds, and also to criticize the reality.
