restoration of lost worlds

threaded with memory from childhood the needle sharp pencil penetrates this fabric of my present to reveal fragments of old places and faces I pull out these fragile remnants into my space of finger-tip making to repair the age-old loss and damage I reweave new fabrics with my needle-like pencil drawing a thread under and drawing a thread over under and over and over and under old thoughts twisting with new thoughts and enduring feelings attached to faces and places all reworked in intricate girlish cross stitches I stitch with my pencil in an up-over-down-and-up rhythm pulling backward and forward to restore these lost worlds
